Directed by: Juda Leman

Judah Leman’s film was commissioned in 1935 by United Israel Appeal with the aim of fundraising for the land’s burgeoning Jewish communities. The film, in a sense, laid the cinematic groundwork for all subsequent Zionist propaganda films that would follow. The Land of Promise explores the regeneration of life in the country, aka “the land of peace between religions”; the two big cities – Tel Aviv and Jerusalem; the local, active Jewish communities, and the clash of the old vs. the new.
