The film was commissioned to mark the 25-year anniversary of the creation of Herzliya Studios [now United Studios Israel.] The late Shimon Peres takes viewers through the story behind the birth and rise of the studios, and the central place they occupy in the chronicling of the State of Israel and the development of the local film and television industry. The narrative comprises archival footage through which viewers are treated to a fast-paced historical recap: from the studios’ launch in 1949 to some of the most successful films they have produced in the runup to their quarter centennial birthday, including Sallah Shabati [aka Sallah] (Ephraim Kishon, 1964), and Siege (Gilberto Tofano, 1969). The film pays homage to a prolific enterprise which, at the time, was already of tremendous cinematic, cultural, and historical significance.
