Summer 2011 – the summer of Israel’s social-justice protests. While tent camps rise along Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv, filmmaker Claudia Levin turns her camera elsewhere: to the area around the Central Bus Station and Levinsky Garden.
The “Levinsky Tent Camp” becomes home to homeless people, trauma survivors, war veterans suffering from PTSD, drug addicts, victims of violence, and others living on the margins of society. For them, the camp provides a temporary refuge, a fragile island of sanity and belonging.
Seventy days after its establishment, the authorities dismantle the camp. The invisible people who had gathered there are once again left to face their fate alone. The film forces us to confront those we often avoid seeing in everyday life, exposing the suffering inflicted by bureaucracy just after they had experienced a brief moment of acceptance and peace.
