Ten years after leaving his kibbutz for Tel Aviv, Lavi Ben-Gal, a member of Kibbutz Nitzanim, reaches a decisive crossroads and must determine which direction to take and how to navigate his life. According to the kibbutz regulations, every member who turns 28 must decide whether to stay or leave.
Lavi, who as a child both loved and hated the kibbutz ceremonies in equal measure, is compelled to look at the place where he grew up with mature eyes. He recalls the kibbutz of the past and compares it to the kibbutz of today – everything is similar yet different, beautiful and ugly, familiar and strange.
Lavi does not appear on camera; only his voice is heard throughout the film. Through narration and cinematography, he traces the paths along which he grew up and came of age, presenting an intimate and compassionate portrait of the kibbutz – which on the one hand has remained as it was, and on the other is changing beyond recognition.
The film earned Ben-Gal the Promising Filmmaker Award at the DocAviv Festival.
