Muhammad Al-Talalka tries to build a home and a village in the Negev, on the Gvaot Goral hills. He does this for himself, for his family, and for his tribe, which lived there until the 1950s. The state evacuated them from the land, promised alternative land but never provided it. Instead, the authorities have tried to resettle them in a permanent settlement, but Muhammad and his family prefer to hold on to their land and cultivate it.
Muhammad’s dream of building a real home for his children sends him into a battle with his personal “windmills” – the Israel Land Authority and the bulldozers that repeatedly destroy their makeshift home. The film charts the struggle of a man living on the border between tradition and the future, between hope and reality.
