A stylised psychological thriller, directed by Danny Lerner, and produced as a low-budget indie film which, upon its release, earned vast critical acclaim, and was featured at countless festivals around the world where it took home multiple awards, including Best Feature Film at the Haifa International Film Festival.
‘Meow’ (Anat Klausner), a young Tel Avivian drug dealer, spends her nights out and about the city streets, hitting the clubs, hanging out at internet cafes, and loitering on online chatrooms. After her bike is stolen, and with no other plans for the night, she chats up a guy online named Alex and arranges to meet him at a club.
A terror attack, however, throws the ultimate spanner in the works. When Meow learns that Alex is in hospital, in a coma, and herself being effectively homeless, she decides to move into his flat. Bit by bit, she begins to assume Alex’s identity and before long, loses herself in a world of fantasy and delusion. The film is rich with nods to big screen masterpieces such as Roman Polanski’s The Tennant (1976) and Alfred Hitchcock’s Mr. George Kaplan in North by Northwest (1959)
