This film by Gonen Glazer, shot over approximately 13 years, follows his friend Amit Dagan, whom he met during basic training in the Golani Brigade in 1990. Dagan, from Kibbutz Ein-Harod, was considered the kibbutz’s great promise – a person admired by women and men alike, the salt of the earth. He served in Lebanon, and after his military service he traveled to Central America, where he underwent experiences that altered his consciousness. Upon returning to Israel, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and manic-depressive disorder and was hospitalized three times at Shaarei Menashe Hospital.
Over the years during which the film was shot, the way Dagan appears on screen changes: in each scene he looks different and grows older. Viewers, observing him through the camera of his close friend, are exposed to his struggle with himself, with his demons, with his sanity, and with his family.
