Director Benjamin Haim’s experimental short explores the concepts of ‘capitalism’ and ‘money’ through a satirical, surrealist prism. The film opens on a man (played by the director) coming out of a sack, as though he were a butterfly emerging from a cocoon, in the middle of a New York City public park. The man is dressed to the nines in a suit and tie and holding an umbrella. He regularly checks the time, the latest stock market updates, and his own finances. At the stock exchange, he moves about on roller skates (a nod to Charlie Chaplin’s character in Modern Times), counting banknotes and throwing them around – and eventually returns to the protective embrace of his cocoon.
