A ‘camptastic’ made-for-TV biography of illusionist, Uri Geller, by British director Ken Russell. Seeing as it is only very loosely based on reality, the film is able to stay true to Russell’s blunt, uninhibited, outlandish, conspicuous, and over-the-top signature style. Mindbender follows the story of Uri Geller (Ishai Golan) – from his childhood in Israel, through to his early gigs in small-time clubs and all the way to his meteoric rise to global entertainment superstardom. The real Uri Geller, himself, has a small cameo towards the end of the film where he performs a telekinetic trick on members of the audience.
