Austria/Romania 2020
Dir.: Johannes Holzhausen
When Romania was united into one country sometime in the 19th century, it was decided that it will take on a royal family from central Europe. The Romanian royal family, which provided plenty of scandals, was annulled in 1947 by the communist regime. Princess Margareta, a descendant of the monarchy, never relinquished the idea of returning to the homeland, and taking back power. Her immense efforts now include a new venture: The Royal Train, with the help of which she wanders across Romania to meet the people. The journey – serious, and at times amusing – presents a portrait of a country that sometimes craves a crown, or at least a little royalty glamor. (93 min., Rom., Heb. subt.)
