Dir.: Evelyn Schels
Body of Truth follows four exceptional women artists – Marina Abramović, Shirin Neshat, Katharina Sieverding, and Sigalit Landau – through the emotional and physical process of creating their art. All four work with their bodies in highly radical, but also very diverse ways to make art. Their bodies are used to not only tell their own personal stories, but to bring to the surface a wider story, using their own biographical scars to confront issues of violence, wars, oppression, and the liquidation of political capital. Body of Truth offers new insights into the political power of art, while also offering a rare look into the extraordinary creative process of these artists. This is a film about four formidable women who have freed themselves from the constraints of their contexts, creating unique artworks in the process. (95 min., Eng. & Ger., Eng. & Heb. subt.)
