Young American Jews, belonging to the Beth Israel religious movement, attempt to resettle Kibbutz Kedma in Hevel Lakhish. The Kibbutz was abandoned by its residents in the early 1960s following an economic and social crisis. The young people received preliminary consent from the Jewish Agency to stay, but they must take the official steps required for recognition, obtain a financial guarantee for the property, and a recommendation from a public institu8tion. The activists begin weeding the fields and clearing the soil. They also eat together in the old kibbutz dining room.
