The government unanimously votes to renew Israels participation in peace talks with Egypt, mediated by UN envoy Gunnar Jarring. After the vote, Prime Minister Golda Meir opens the debate on the decision in the Knesset. Menachem Begin argues against it. after a five-hour hearing, the appeal by the Free Centre faction is rejected and the decision to move ahead with the talks stands.
