A moving, prejudice-defying love story between the director’s father, Shraga, and Ola. Shraga is a German Jew who had fled the Nazis whilst Ola is Christian and the daughter of a Nazi. As it turns out, history has made the two families forever intertwined: both Shraga’s grandparents perished in the gas chambers, inhaling the lethal substance that was being pumped out from containers made by Ola’s father and grandfather. After he had fled Nazi persecution, Shraga joined the Hagana Jewish resistance organisation and was critically injured in Israel’s 1948 War of Independence, during the siege of Yechiam. Now, a poorly man on the verge of blindness, Shraga is ready for a reckoning with the state whose survival he had paid for with his own blood.
