Director Joseph Pitchhadze’s stylised crime thriller follows a cast of fringe characters from the peripheries of Israeli society in south Tel Aviv. Carmi (Carmel Betto), who has just been released from prison is collected by Alter (Moni Moshonov). Alter, whose nightclub has recently hit a rough patch asks Carmi to help him steal a Christian icon from August (Ezra Kafri) – a mobster who plans on selling the piece to a UK crime syndicate. Soon, the plot thickens as it further intertwines with other storylines featuring an assortment of eccentric underworld characters. Bésame Mucho won the Wolgin Prize for Best Feature at the Jerusalem International Film Festival.
