Maya, a young, aspiring actress from a small southern Israeli town, moves to Tel Aviv in the hopes of realising her dream. After several failed auditions, she wins the part of a young woman struggling with mental health issues. Determined to make this her breakout role, she asks to spend some time in a mental health hospital, as part of researching her character. Maya’s empathy with the patients soon causes friction between herself and the director as the latter is that much keener on a stage drama than an accurate depiction of reality. Not even the romantic relationship that has developed between the two is enough to mitigate their deepening conflict in which each is fighting for their own truth. On the eve of the premiere, Maya finds herself walking a fine line between acting and insanity to a packed theatre.
