Director Hadar Friedlich’s film was featured on Israeli broadcaster, Channel 2’s Voices from the Heartland programme – a series of specials highlighting emerging filmmakers who had recently graduated with distinction from their respective film schools around the country. The film won Best Screenplay at the Jerusalem Film Festival and was shown at many festivals round the world, including the Cannes Film Festival. On the cusp of womanhood, Tamar, the film’s protagonist treads the fine line between virtue and sin. Whilst working on her Bat Mitzvah Torah portion, she finds herself flirting with all manners of forbidden adventures that go against her faith and tradition. Tamar ends up in an internal monologue with herself and the voices in her head and along the way, develops obsessive compulsive behaviour.
