This film collection that was kindly donated by the Kennedy Leigh Charitable Trust via the Jerusalem Foundation, features a mix of historical films shot in the land between the 1880s and the 1940s. The collection features documentaries, narrative fiction films, and home movies – an extraordinary Jewish life testimonial in Ottoman and later, British Mandatory-ruled Palestine. The Kennedy Leigh Charitable Trust is a patron of the Jerusalem Cinematheque’s Israeli Film Archive’s digitising scheme and in doing so, plays a pivotal role in all stages of the film preservation process, from intake through to scanning and ultimately, in making the content accessible to the general public. This rare film and video collection has gained a new lease of onscreen life in the 21st century.
