Family collection of Yosef (Jojo) Selma, who recorded his hometown of Beer Sheva with an 8 mm camera in the years 1964-1979.
The collection, which includes dozens of videos, provides a rare glimpse into the nature of the city from Selma’s point of view: Avraham’s well, a flood, the Turkish bridge, parades, as well as documentation of Anwar Sadat in his historic visit to the city.
The collection also includes family photographs from other sites: trips to the beaches of Ashkelon and Ashdod and visits to Gaza, El-Arish, Jerusalem and Bethlehem after the Six Day War. During this period, Selma was one of the only documentarians who shot in color.
This is a film collection of great historical importance, which can serve as a rich source of information for researchers, filmmakers, students, museums, various organizations and more.
The collection was deposited in the Israel Film Archive by Shmulik Selma, and it belongs to the Selma family. The archive is responsible for its management, scientific preservation and public access.
